The innovative valve train system is based on a two-part rocker arm design. This comprises a cam-side rocker arm and a valve-side rocker arm, both mounted on one axle as one unit. For a reliable and robust actuation of the locking mechanism, electric miniature switching solenoids are arranged between the two-part rocker arms of the exhaust and intake valve actuation.

The electromechanical actuation allows very fast and reliable switching times, especially at low temperatures and engine start.
