The servo unit is mounted in parallel to the steering rack (EPSapa)
As soon as the driver turns the steering wheel, sensors register the corresponding steering torque and steering speed with absolute precision. The registered data are used to calculate the required steering assistance and, based on the calculated results, to control the servomotor.
In the final step, the motor transmits the optimum servo torque – via worm gear or recirculating ball gear – to the steering rack (EPSapa) in the mechanical rack and pinion steering system.
Hi i have a 2018 Rangr Rover Evoque which has this ZF power Steer unit fitted. It is very noisy in slow speed car parking environment particularly on full lock. Is this normal? It seems to be under extreme load and struggling with an audible shudder noise present. Car has standard Michelin road tyres as fitted by Landrover OEM
