The ServoE is a fully electric steering system for automated driving functions up to SAE level 4 based on a redundant design. The steering system is based on a modular construction kit and consists of the proven ball-and-nut technology combined with two electronic SCUs (Steering Control Units) and worm gear transmissions. Depending on the body of the vehicle, the design of the steering system can be adapted, which offers vehicle manufacturers flexibility in packaging. The SCUs receive the steering signal generated by a sensor.
In addition to comfort and driver assistance functions such as side wind compensation, lane departure warning and traffic jam assist, the steering system also supports automated driving functions in commercial vehicles. This is possible due to a connection between the steering system and the on-board electronics. Thanks to the latest technology, the steering system is protected against unauthorized external access. The digital update “over the air” ensures that the software is kept up to date. The two electric motors on the worm gear transmission precisely provide the steering assistance.
