The development goal of this product was to create a cost-effective, lightweight design for serial production of assembly components.
This has worked by implementing production processes that are suitable for large-scale production that only sheet metal design allows, such as deep-drawing and arc welding.
The implementation of crushable aluminum alloys, characterized by high energy absorption capability, allows the subframe to act as a secondary load path to improve safety.
Due to the flexibility in the design inherent in sheet metal parts, the design space can be used efficiently.
