Full gear detection for manual transmissions is a necessary function for modern gearboxes, not only for driver assistance systems, such as the recommendation of the most suitable gear according to speed, it is necessary to know the current state of the transmission.
Only a detection of the end positions (in-gear) for functions such as shift intention, the basis for systems with automatic clutch, is not enough.
This need has led to the development of a continuous full-crossing gear detection, which can display at any given time the actual position of the components in the transmission.
Other functions are realizable for example, a transmission speed control, gear-dependent torque control as well as the already established start-stop function.
