Gen.2, the E-Axle that the Company started mass-producing at Guangzhou Nidec Auto Drive System Co., Ltd. in China on September 26, 2022.
E-Axle Gen.2’s main features (in comparison with Gen.1’s 100kW model)
- 19% lighter in weight and 20% better torque and power density thanks to the use of smaller magnetic circuits and inverters based on the second generation, high space factor wire winding technology
- Use of magnets that require significantly less amounts of dysprosium (Dy), terbium (Tb), and other kinds of heavy rare earth thanks to the improved cooling capability based on the newly developed two-way oil circulation system. The magnets will be replaced by those free of heavy rare earth gradually
- Motor noise reduced by 6-8dB compared with its previous model and the one prior to it, both of which were very quiet, thanks to the optimized component allocation and newly designed gears, among others.
