KYOCERA AVX Brake by Wire Pedal

KYOCERA AVX Brake by Wire Pedal

The KYOCERA AVX Components Brake by Wire Pedal uses two independent sensor technologies both with two redundant signals and ASIL D.

KYOCERA AVX BbW Brake Pedal Sensor
Brake Pedal Sensor: Detects the position and force applied to the brake pedal

Supply voltage: 5 V
Linearity per channel: < ±1 %
Signal synchronization between the two channels of the same operating principle: < 2 %
Signal synchronization between all four channels: < 6 %
Position signal output: SENT (12 bit) / PWM
Free programmable output characteristic curve
Optional low power Wake-up functionality
Sensing angle range: 13 – 20° (can be adapted on individual requirement)

Developed according to ISO 26262
ASIL D on position signal per signal pair of the same operating principle
ASIL D on position signal after single failure event of one channel
Several degradation concepts in case of failure event
Two connectors for full power supply redundancy

Size and weight: No hydraulic oil or at least a reduced amount of fluids in the brake system
System costs: Less parts are necessary for brake by wire systems
Brake precision: Braking force can be applied individually to each wheel by actuators
Compatibility with E-Drives: Better control of recuperation or mechanical brake
Functional safety: Implementation of different diagnostics are possible
Redundancy: Individual brake actuators and signal redundancy available
